“Punjab’s Largest University Bans American Products: MP Mittal Says – President Trump Ignored the Appeal; Big Companies Should Be Stopped.”
One of the biggest private universities in the nation, Lovely Professional University (LPU), in Phagwara, which is close to Jalandhar, has declared a boycott of American goods. Ashok Kumar Mittal, a Rajya Sabha MP for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the university’s chancellor, has declared that no American goods of any kind will be sold on campus going forward.

According to Mittal, he had urged US President Donald Trump to engage in conversation to settle the dispute rather than levying a 50% tariff on India. But his appeal went unanswered in America. He declared that there would be a total boycott of American products on the LPU campus if the United States imposed tariffs after August 27.

The United States recently agreed to apply tariffs of up to fifty per cent on a number of Indian imports. According to the US administration, this will safeguard its own industry. India, however, claims that this decision violates World Trade Organisation (WTO) regulations and will negatively impact both nations’ trading relations. According to experts, this disagreement may have an effect on other industries, like IT and education, if it is not settled through discussion. According to MP Ashok Mittal, Indians should band together and boycott American products till America changes its mind. This is the best way to teach America a lesson, he thinks.
