A major theft took place in Diwan Khera village of Abohar, Fazilka on Wednesday night. Thieves broke into a house while the family was sleeping outside in the courtyard. The robbers escaped with gold, silver jewelry and cash worth thousands of rupees.
Ramchandra the homeowner, said that around 3:30 AM everything seemed normal when he got up to get water. Later, thieves broke a window to enter a room in the house after climbing the boundary wall. They locked all the rooms and searched the entire house, throwing clothes, bags and even bed boxes on the floor.
The robbers took ₹12,000 in cash, 5 tola of gold jewelry and 10 tola of silver jewelry.
The theft was discovered in the morning when Ramchandra’s wife woke up to make tea. She found the kitchen gate locked and realized something was wrong. The family then informed the police, who are now investigating the case.
This is not the first such incident in the area. Other nearby villages under Khuiyan Sarwar police station like Kalar Kheda, Gidranwali, and Khatwan have also seen similar thefts recently. People in the region are now living in fear due to the increasing number of such crimes.
