A 30-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh died by suicide in Jalandhar, Punjab. The incident happened late Monday night near Banga Road in Phillaur. The man Chandrapal Singh was found hanging from a tree close to the petrol pump where he worked.
Chandrapal was from Dugiyan village in Etawah district Uttar Pradesh. He had been working at Jagroop Point Petrol Pump in Phillaur for almost a year. According to the police he used his T-shirt to hang himself around 9:45 PM.
Local people saw the body and immediately informed the police. Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Singh Aulakh said Chandrapal was unmarried and the reasons behind his suicide are still being investigated. The police have informed his family.
The body has been sent to Civil Hospital Phillaur for post-mortem. The police have started an inquiry to find out what led to the incident.
