People in Punjab can now get treatment for dog, cat, or other animal bites at Aam Aadmi Clinics. The government has decided to provide anti-rabies vaccines at these clinics. Some districts have already received the vaccine and others will get it soon.
Health department officials have requested people to use this new facility. They also advised pet owners to vaccinate their animals on time to avoid future problems.
Earlier, the vaccine was only available at district hospitals, sub-divisional, and community health centers. This caused inconvenience to many people. So, there was a long-standing demand to make this facility available at Aam Aadmi Clinics near people’s homes.
Dr. Sangeeta Jain Civil Surgeon of Mohali, said that the vaccine is now available at all 40 Aam Aadmi Clinics in Mohali. Health officials said that after an animal bite, it is important to take the vaccine on Day 0 (the day of the bite), Day 3, Day 7 and Day 28.
Rabies is a 100% fatal disease, but it can be 100% prevented with timely treatment. All clinics have enough vaccines and trained medical staff to ensure fast and effective care.
