A stampede happened at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday where hundreds of people had gathered. According to the police six people died and many others were injured.
The stampede started after a rumour spread that there was an electric current near the temple stairs. This caused panic among the crowd leading to a rush and chaos.
Haridwar’s Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal said that about 35 people were taken to the hospital. Sadly six of them could not survive.
Police and rescue teams quickly reached the spot and controlled the situation. An investigation is now underway.
