Car Falls into Bathinda’s Sirhind Canal Again; Driver Rescued Safely

Bathinda: Another car has fallen into the Sirhind Canal near National Colony in Bathinda. The driver Sandeep Singh, was trying to avoid stray animals on the road when he lost control of the car and it went into the canal.

People nearby saw the accident and immediately called for help. The police and members of the Naujawan Welfare Society quickly reached the spot.  Sandeep Singh was safely rescued from the car. Later a hydro machine was used to pull the car out of the water.

This is the second such accident in just two days. A day earlier, a Honda Amaze car carrying 11 people including children also fell into the same canal. That incident received a lot of attention across Punjab.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised the rescue team and announced that they will be honored on August 15. The Punjab Police Chief (DGP) also gave them a cash reward and a commendation disc.

A local municipal councilor at the scene said that while the police and administration are doing good work there is an urgent need to build a safety wall along the canal to stop such accidents from happening again.
