A controversy happened before the Aam Aadmi Party’s anti-drug campaign started in Mansa Punjab. A young man named Parvinder Singh Jhota who speaks out against drugs, reached the program at Central Park.
Parvinder said he wanted to ask questions to the local MLA and party leaders. He claimed that drugs are still being sold openly in every street and corner of Mansa. He also said he knows the exact places where drugs are sold, but the police and government are not doing anything to stop it.
As soon as the party got the news that Parvinder had come, none of the AAP leaders or workers including the MLA or district head came to the event. Only some officers from the Municipal Council were present, and they argued with Parvinder asking him not to raise questions.
Parvinder refused to stay silent. He said he has every right to question the government about the drug problem.
In the end no political leader or official attended the event. The chairs were left empty, and the organizers packed up and left ending the program before it ven started.
