In Jagraon, a young soldier living in the village sexually assaulted a 12th-grade juvenile girl.
In 2024, Bakhshish Singh the accused, was added as a friend by the victim on social media. Their friendship grew into a romantic relationship. The accused convinced the victim to get into physical contact by promising her marriage.

In March 2025, he returned to her home and had more sexual encounters, pretending to be a married couple. When the victim brought up the marriage topic the accused started threatening her.
Her father later reported the incident to the police. According to the Station House Officer Surjit Singh the victim was medically examined by the police.
The police have filed cases under Sections 64, 351(2) BNS, and 6 of the POCSO Act. The police are currently conducting raids to catch the accused. Authorities have stated that the accused will soon be arrested.
