PM Modi Launches ₹5,400 Crore Development Projects in West Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched several development projects worth ₹5,400 crore in West Bengal. These projects focus on improving roads, railways, power, gas supply, and promoting clean energy.

At an event in Durgapur, PM Modi said that the world is noticing India’s growth and efforts to become a developed nation. He said the country’s progress depends a lot on better infrastructure.

He spoke about the government’s vision of ‘One Nation, One Gas Grid’ and said the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project was started to bring equal energy access and support industries in eastern India.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum’s ₹1,950 crore City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia. This will provide piped gas to homes and industries, CNG at fuel stations, and create jobs in the region.

He also inaugurated the ₹1,190 crore Durgapur–Kolkata section of the Durgapur–Haldia natural gas pipeline. This 132-km pipeline goes through Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, and Nadia districts and will give lakhs of people access to clean fuel.

To help reduce pollution, he launched Flue Gas Desulphurisation systems at Durgapur Steel and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Stations. These systems, costing over ₹1,457 crore, will help cut harmful emissions and improve air quality.

In the railway sector, PM Modi opened the newly doubled 36-km Purulia–Kotshila rail line, built at a cost of ₹390 crore. This will improve train movement in the area.

All these efforts aim to boost development and make life better for the people of West Bengal.
