Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh visited Alipur Araian village in Patiala on Saturday after a diarrhoea outbreak was reported.
So far, 138 people have been affected and four have died.
The minister asked residents to drink only the water being supplied by tankers from the Municipal Corporation. He was joined by Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav and Municipal Commissioner Parmvir Singh during the visit.
The team tested drinking water in homes using chlorine tests, and all samples were found to be safe. Balbir Singh said the cases were mild and no one needed to be admitted to the hospital, but the Health Department was keeping watch 24/7.
He also said that ambulances and medical teams have been placed in the area, and the situation is now under control.
The minister advised people to boil water or use chlorine tablets for safety, especially during the monsoon season.
