CM Bhagwant Mann Demands Lawrence Bishnoi Be Shifted to Punjab Jail, Slams BJP and Centre

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that his government is exploring legal ways to bring gangster Lawrence Bishnoi back to a Punjab jail. Currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat, Mann alleged that Bishnoi’s gang is operating freely from there under BJP’s protection.

Speaking after the second day of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session, Mann stated, “The only way to deal with Lawrence Bishnoi and his network is to bring him back to a Punjab jail. His terror empire is being run from Sabarmati Jail, which is under BJP protection.”

Taking a direct jab at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Mann called him “tadipaar,” referring to a past court order that had banned Shah from entering Gujarat. “Now, such people are holding top positions. What more can we expect?” he remarked.

When asked about the legal notice issued to AAP leader Aman Arora by BJP leader Manjinder Sirsa, Mann responded by asking Sirsa to clarify “who has harboured and supported gangsters over the years.”

Mann also reacted sharply to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs criticizing him. “Can’t I ask questions about foreign policy? Why do Adani’s business projects begin in every country the Prime Minister visits? Are these trips for national interest or for private business gains?” he questioned.

Hitting out at PM Modi’s frequent foreign visits, Mann said, “When there was tension with Pakistan, not one country supported us. Still, our Prime Minister travels the world repeatedly, visiting countries whose names people don’t even remember. Why not focus on issues at home — like resolving the water dispute between Punjab and Haryana?”

The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect AAP’s growing political aggression ahead of the upcoming electoral season, especially on issues like gangster control, Centre-state dynamics, and national policy decisions.
