Trump Announces Tariffs on 14 Nations, Trade Partners to Be Revealed Soon

Just two days before his set deadline of July 9, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that his administration will reveal the names of at least seven trade partner countries on Wednesday morning, with more to be added by the afternoon.

In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We will be releasing a minimum of 7 Countries having to do with trade tomorrow morning, with an additional number of Countries being released in the afternoon. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

This comes a day after Trump revealed that his administration had sent official letters to 14 countries, notifying them about reciprocal tariffs that will take effect from August 1, 2025. Trump emphasized that there will be no extensions to the deadline and that “all money will be due and payable starting August 1.”

The letters were first made public for Japan and South Korea, both of which will face a 25% tariff on exports to the U.S. Trump then revealed similar letters sent to the leaders of Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar, and Laos.

Later, letters were also sent to Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Cambodia.

Here is a summary of the announced tariff rates:

  • Japan & South Korea: 25%

  • Thailand & Cambodia: 36%

  • Bangladesh & Serbia: 35%

  • Malaysia & Kazakhstan: 25%

  • Myanmar & Laos: 40%

  • Indonesia: 32%

  • South Africa & Bosnia and Herzegovina: 30%

  • Tunisia: 25%

When asked if he was absolutely firm on the August 1 deadline, Trump replied, “I would say firm but not 100 per cent firm. If they call up and they say we would like to do something differently, we will be open to that.”

This announcement signals a significant shift in U.S. trade policy and could lead to tension with several countries as the deadline approaches.
