Kejriwal Rules Out Rajya Sabha Move After Sanjeev Arora’s Bypoll Win

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday clarified that he will not be heading to the Rajya Sabha, putting an end to speculation following Sanjeev Arora’s bypoll victory in Ludhiana West.

With Arora set to resign from his Rajya Sabha seat to take up his new role as MLA and Cabinet minister in Punjab, questions arose about who would replace him in the Upper House.

At a press conference, Kejriwal firmly denied any such plans. “Many times I have been sent to the Rajya Sabha. I want to tell you — I am not going to the Rajya Sabha,” he said in response to a media query. He added that the party’s Political Affairs Committee would decide on Arora’s replacement.

Opposition parties had been claiming that Kejriwal might use the opportunity to enter Parliament via the Rajya Sabha, especially after his recent resignation as Delhi Chief Minister. His clear denial now shifts focus to who the AAP will nominate for the Upper House seat.
