Patiala police have arrested five alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and recovered a cache of illegal weapons from them. The accused were reportedly in direct contact with a jailed gangster and were involved in planning targeted killings.
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma identified the arrested men as Tejinder Singh Fauji, Rahul, Vipal Kumar, Sukhchain Singh, and Dev Karan.
“We have seized seven weapons — including three .30 bore pistols, three .32 bore pistols, and one country-made .315 bore pistol — along with 10 magazines and 11 live rounds,” SSP Sharma told the media.
The gang members are suspected of attacking a key witness in the Bhinda murder case on instructions from Tejinder, who was already in jail at the time. The police said he had ordered another attack on a resident of Patiala, which led investigators to the rest of the group.
The weapons were reportedly sourced from Madhya Pradesh. Police are now working to trace and arrest the arms supplier.
The investigation is ongoing.
