Harbhajan Singh Resumes Active Role in Constituency, Inaugurates ₹75 Lakh Development Projects in Bholath

After years of limited public presence in his constituency, cricketer-turned-politician Harbhajan Singh is once again drawing attention and appreciation from locals. His active participation in public events—especially after the Burlton Park Sports Hub event in Jalandhar on June 11—has been warmly welcomed by fans and residents.

On Saturday, Harbhajan visited Bholath and inaugurated several development works for the village of Ramgarh in Kapurthala district, unveiling projects worth ₹75 lakh aimed at improving rural infrastructure.

Harsimran Singh Ghuman, AAP’s Bholath constituency incharge and Director of the Water Resources Department, was also present at the event. Harbhajan received a warm welcome from Ghuman and AAP workers at the start of the ceremony.

While speaking to the media, Harbhajan emphasized the importance of rural development, stating, “Lakhs of rupees are being invested by the government for the betterment of villages.” He detailed the various initiatives: ₹20 lakh spent on improving streets and drainage systems, ₹5 lakh allocated for the village dharamshala, ₹6.45 lakh for solar lighting, and ₹6 lakh for the crematorium.

Expressing his personal connection to Ramgarh, Harbhajan said, “I have a close relationship with this village. Whatever is needed here, we will ensure it gets done quickly.”

Commenting briefly on the upcoming Ludhiana West by-election, Harbhajan noted that party members are actively involved in campaigning. He expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party candidate would perform well and hoped for a positive outcome on June 19.

Ghuman praised Harbhajan’s commitment, calling him not just a cricket legend but also a dedicated public servant. “From being a star on the field to now serving Punjab with sincerity, he is fulfilling the responsibility given to him by the party with great dedication,” he said.
