Ghanshyam Devi, in-charge of Sirsa women police station, has been suspended by SP Dr. Mayank Gupta following allegations that she attempted to settle a rape case for Rs 20 lakh with the accused. The complaint was filed by a woman from Ellenabad who had reported the rape. Instead of proper legal action, officers allegedly sought a monetary compromise.
The suspension cites negligence and irregularities in duty. Ghanshyam Devi has been transferred to Police Lines. Departmental inquiries are underway against Sub-Inspector Komal Devi and another unidentified officer. The SP emphasized zero tolerance for such misconduct.
