PM Modi Assures Help to Northeast States Hit by Floods

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Chief Ministers of Assam and Sikkim, and the Governor of Manipur on Tuesday about the serious flooding caused by heavy rains in the region.

He promised full support from the Central Government to help the states deal with the situation.

After the call, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared that PM Modi had asked about the flood situation in Assam. Sarma explained how continuous rainfall in Assam and nearby states has caused major flooding and affected many lives. He also updated the Prime Minister on the rescue and relief work being carried out by the state government.

Sarma said that PM Modi showed concern for the people and assured full assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts.

So far, at least 34 people have died due to the floods in the Northeast. Landslides have also occurred, and the weather department has warned that more rain is expected in the coming days.
