Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Jalandhar Central, Raman Arora, who was recently arrested in a corruption case, was diagnosed with multiple gallstones after complaining of abdominal pain while in custody.
Arora was taken to the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar twice — first around 9:30 PM and again at 1:30 AM — where he was kept under observation until morning. Doctors conducted an ultrasound and found multiple stones in his gall bladder. However, they confirmed that it was not a medical emergency.
A doctor stated that surgery has been advised, but since the pain had subsided and his vital signs were stable, the decision for surgery remains with Arora.
Officials from the Vigilance Bureau, which is investigating Arora in a corruption and extortion case, called the hospital visit a “routine examination.” A doctor and pharmacist stayed with him through the night as per the bureau’s request.
After being discharged, Arora rejoined the ongoing Vigilance Bureau probe. He was arrested on May 23 after a raid at his residence, and on Saturday, a Jalandhar court remanded him to five-day custody.
