Ludhiana West Bypoll Date Likely Soon as Deadline Nears

As the deadline nears for holding the Ludhiana West bypoll, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce an official date. The six-month period to conduct the election will end on July 11, and usually about a month is required to complete the election process.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C, speaking to media said the final decision lies with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as bypolls are also due in Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala, and Punjab. He noted that elections will definitely be held before the July deadline.

Meanwhile, political activity in Ludhiana West is gaining momentum. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal have both recently visited the city. Candidates Sanjeev Arora (AAP), Paropkar Singh Ghuman (SAD), and Bharat Bhushan Ashu (Congress) are actively campaigning and holding regular meetings with voters despite the soaring temperatures reaching up to 42°C.

Supporters of the candidates say the heat isn’t stopping them, as the current period is crucial to reach out to the maximum number of voters. Campaigning continues in full swing, even without a confirmed election date.
