Punjab Launches “Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang” to Inspire Meritorious Students

To celebrate academic excellence and build leadership skills among students in government schools, the Punjab Government has launched a unique initiative called “Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang”. The announcement was made by School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

Under this programme, six top-performing students (three each from Class 10 and Class 12) from every district will get the opportunity to spend a day with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of their district.

The aim is to give students real-world exposure to governance, discipline, and public service, and to ignite ambition and leadership qualities in them. At the end of the day, each student will receive a Certificate of Participation and a motivational book or diary.

To record the experience, each district will prepare a short write-up with reflections from students, which will be compiled into a “District Merit Booklet”. Schools will also encourage these students to share their learnings with classmates, creating a wider culture of motivation and aspiration among students.
