Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing it of being run by Delhi leaders and looting the state before their term ends.
At a press conference in Ludhiana, Badal said Punjab is being controlled by Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been reduced to a mere puppet. He questioned how Sisodia and Jain were allowed to hold meetings with Punjab officials.
Badal also praised the Indian Army for protecting Punjab during the recent India-Pakistan conflict and highlighted the threat to the Golden Temple, which was reportedly prevented due to advanced air defence systems.
Targeting AAP further, he alleged a massive scam involving land acquisition. He claimed that the government was allowing landowners to backdate land use changes by paying Rs 1 crore per acre to avoid acquisition, particularly around Ludhiana and Mohali. He accused the AAP of planning to acquire over 24,000 acres of land without providing basic facilities or taking farmers’ consent.
Calling the move “daylight robbery,” Badal announced that the SAD would hold a major protest outside the GLADA office on May 31. He also said the party is open to alliances with any political force that supports the rights of Punjabis.
