The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has claimed that Papalpreet Singh, an aide of jailed MP Amritpal Singh, is not being treated properly in Ropar jail.
Manjit Singh Bhoma, who heads the Punjab Dharam Prachar Committee of DSGMC, said in a statement on Saturday that Papalpreet was recently moved from Dibrugarh jail to Ropar jail in Punjab. He alleged that Papalpreet is being kept in a cell under 24-hour watch and is not being allowed to visit the Gurdwara or go to the jail hospital for medical treatment.
Bhoma said Papalpreet is a political prisoner and should not be treated like a regular criminal. He also questioned why Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is in jail for serious crimes, is getting VIP treatment.
Bhoma urged Jail Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar to take action and lift the restrictions placed on Papalpreet by instructing the Ropar jail superintendent.
