The encounter started between security forces and terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The security forces began a search operation in the Shukroo Keller area of south Kashmir after getting information about the presence of terrorists.
During the search, the terrorists started firing at the forces. The security personnel fired back, leading to an ongoing gunfight.
So far, there are no reports of any injuries or deaths from either side.
