Congress Accuses BJP of Taking Credit for Armed Forces’ Efforts

The Congress party on Monday accused the BJP of trying to take credit for the sacrifices made by ਭਾਰਤ’s armed forces in the recent war against terror.

Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhupesh Baghel said the BJP posted on X (formerly Twitter) that only they had taken action, like surgical strikes, and claimed that the Congress had done nothing. Baghel said this was wrong and that the Congress has always been strict in fighting terrorism and protecting ਭਾਰਤ’s unity.

Even though the Congress disagrees with the BJP, Baghel said the party supports the ਸਰਕਾਰ in matters of national unity.

He also questioned why the United States announced a ceasefire. “The ਲੋਕ of ਭਾਰਤ have a right to know what was discussed,” Baghel said. He added that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have demanded a special session of Parliament to explain the terms of the ceasefire.

Baghel also referred to a tweet by former US President Donald Trump and said it raised questions, such as whether the historic Shimla Pact has been cancelled.

He reminded everyone that in 1971, former Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Indira Gandhi had shown the world that ਭਾਰਤ would never bow down. He said ਅੱਜ’s armed forces are proving the same, and the Congress party proudly supports them.

Baghel also said the Congress always puts the country’s interests first.

He added that the Congress would not attend an all-party meeting unless it is chaired by the Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ himself.
