Leaders Support Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri After Online Trolling

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri received strong support from politicians and former diplomats after being targeted online. The trolling started after India and Pakistan agreed on May 10 to stop all military actions on land, air, and sea. This decision followed four days of intense cross-border missile and drone strikes.

Misri announced the ceasefire on Saturday evening, saying both countries’ military officers had agreed during a phone call. The next meeting is planned for May 12 at noon.

After the announcement, some people on social media started attacking Misri and even targeted his family. In response, many public figures came out in support of him.

Former Foreign Secretary Nirupama Menon Rao called the trolling “shameful” and said it crossed all lines of decency, especially when it involved his family. She urged people to support diplomats instead of spreading hate.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also supported Misri. In a long message on X (formerly Twitter), he said honest officers like Misri work hard for the country and don’t make decisions on their own—they follow government orders. He criticized the government for not protecting Misri from the online abuse.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi also praised Misri, calling him a hardworking and honest diplomat. He said civil servants should not be blamed for decisions made by political leaders.

All three urged people to stop the hate and support those who serve the country with dedication.
