India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to review the security situation along the western border, as tensions with Pakistan escalate. The meeting was held after Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks across the border, targeting both military and civilian infrastructure in India.
The meeting included top military officials, such as Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
Pakistan launched multiple attacks during the night of May 8 and 9, but India’s air defense system successfully repelled these strikes. The Indian Army responded to these attacks and also dealt with several ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army assured that the country remains committed to defending its sovereignty and would respond firmly to any further attacks. The situation remains tense, with ongoing efforts to assess and retaliate against any further Pakistani aggression.
