US Vice-President JD Vance said on Friday that the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan is “fundamentally none of our business,” while adding that the US is still urging both countries to avoid further escalation.

In an interview with Fox News, Vance stated, “We’re not going to get involved in the middle of a war that has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it. America can’t tell the Indians to lay down their arms. We can’t tell the Pakistanis to lay down their arms.”

He emphasized that the US will continue to work through diplomatic channels and expressed hope that the situation does not escalate into a larger regional war or a nuclear conflict. “Right now, we don’t think that’s going to happen,” he added.

Vance’s comments come after Pakistan attempted — and failed — to strike Indian military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and other cities. India’s air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed at least eight missiles launched by Pakistan.

JD Vance, along with Second Lady Usha Vance and their three children, was on their first official visit to India when terrorists killed 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.

In response to the attack, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Wednesday, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
