The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
A BCCI official told PTI, “It does not look right to continue playing cricket while the country is at war.” The IPL was supposed to end on May 25 with the final match in Kolkata.
The decision comes after an unfortunate incident on Thursday night at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium. The match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was cancelled.
Fans were informed about the cancellation and asked to leave the stadium. Both teams were safely taken back to their hotel.
The tournament had reached an important stage, but now it stands suspended due to the serious situation in the country.
