Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal have strongly criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for not offering a clear apology for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the attack on the Golden Temple.
Their remarks came after Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements at Brown University in the US.
Sukhbir Singh Badal questioned why Rahul still defends those responsible. “He was a minor in 1984, but he’s been an adult for years. Why does he still refuse to speak the truth?” he asked.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal also condemned Rahul’s comments, saying his visits to Sikh shrines don’t absolve his party of its past. “Our religious places are not political tools to erase historical wrongs,” she said, adding that Rahul should remove leaders involved in the 1984 violence from the Congress.
