Punjab Says No Water to Share as Haryana Faces Crisis; Political War Erupts

Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has said that Punjab doesn’t have even a single drop of water to give to other states. Speaking at an event in Pathankot, he said, “We are ready to give our blood, but please do not talk about water.” He added that Punjab is already facing a water shortage and cannot share with neighbours when it doesn’t have enough for itself.

Dhaliwal also said that Punjabis won’t bow down under pressure and that people in Punjab have even died fighting over water. He stressed that the Punjab Government is focused on stopping drugs and protecting water resources.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala blamed both Haryana and Punjab Chief Ministers for playing politics over the water issue. He said people in Haryana are suffering due to water shortage. Bhakra water supply has been cut in half, affecting drinking water in 10 districts and making it hard to plant cotton crops in areas like Sirsa, Hisar, and Fatehabad.

Surjewala also criticised the Haryana CM for only planning to go to court instead of asking the Central Government for help. He said court cases take time and won’t give quick relief. He asked Prime Minister Modi to step in and make Punjab release water to Haryana using constitutional powers. He also urged Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to support Haryana’s people over politics.
