PM Modi Announces $200 Million Defence Credit Line for Angola, Vows Strong Stand Against Terror

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a USD 200 million defence credit line to help Angola modernise its defence forces. He made this announcement after meeting Angolan President Joao Lourenco in Delhi.

The two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation between India and Angola, including in defence, digital technology, healthcare, and mineral resources.

PM Modi said India will support Angola in repairing and supplying defence equipment. India will also help Angola build its digital public systems, grow space technology, and improve healthcare, diamond processing, and fertiliser production.

He also said both countries are committed to fighting terrorism and those who support it. His comment came just days after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.

Modi added that India and the African Union are strong partners and play an important role in the Global South. President Lourenco is on a four-day visit to India.
