Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of giving away too much river water to Haryana. He said that Mann allowed 4,000 cusecs of water to be sent to Haryana last month and agreed to give 8,500 more cusecs recently.
Badal warned that if Punjab’s extra water is given to any other state, SAD will start a protest. He said this decision is hurting Punjab, which is already facing a serious water shortage and desertification.
Badal also claimed that instead of solving the real problems, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is doing “dramas” like sit-in protests to distract people. He asked Mann to explain why he agreed to Haryana’s request and under whose orders the water was released.
