Punjab Police chief Gaurav Yadav said on Monday that testing of anti-drone technology has been completed, and it will soon be set up along the second line of defence in the state. This step comes as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high.
The anti-drone systems are meant to stop drones from Pakistan carrying drugs and weapons. The deployment will be done with help from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Border Security Force. Yadav said the systems would be ready by September.
He also announced that all police districts in Punjab must work to cut off drug supply chains by May 31. There will be no focus on arrests or numbers, but on making sure drugs are no longer available on the streets. After May 31, a survey will be done to check the results. Officers who succeed will be rewarded, while those who fail will face action.
