Muktsar police have not yet arrested two relatives of Congress leader and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in a double murder case. The victims, Vinay Partap Brar (55) and Surya Partap Brar (22), were killed over a property dispute near Malout on April 19.
The police have named six people in the case, including Randhawa’s father-in-law Nachattarpal Singh and brother-in-law Ravinder Singh Bubby, who are still missing. The FIR was filed by Vinay Partap’s daughter, Shazia Partap Brar, and it names Randhawa’s relatives as conspirators. Another accused, Sukha, a farm labourer, is also absconding.
So far, police have arrested three people: Davinder Singh (alias Rana), Karanpal Singh, and Sukha’s father Major Singh. They are currently in police custody.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, who is related to the victims, demanded the arrest of Randhawa’s relatives and alleged political pressure on the police. Bittu said he would raise the issue with the Home Ministry if any names were removed from the FIR.
