Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it an attack on India’s very soul. Speaking at the National Panchayat Day event in Madhubani, Bihar, he promised that the culprits and their supporters would face a punishment “beyond their imagination.”
The Prime Minister addressed the nation and the world, sending out a clear message that India will not tolerate terrorism. “India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backer. We will go after them until the very end,” he said to a huge round of applause. Modi added that India’s resolve would not be broken by terrorism.
The attack, which killed 26 people, deeply saddened the country. Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He said the government was doing everything it could to help the survivors.
Calling it more than just an attack on tourists, the Prime Minister said it was an attack on India’s unity and faith. He stressed that justice would be delivered, and the remaining terrorist infrastructure would be completely destroyed.
Without naming Pakistan directly, Modi warned that those behind the attack would be dealt with severely, especially after India had announced tough retaliatory steps.
Modi also highlighted the unity of India in grief, mentioning that the victims came from many different states and spoke various languages, yet the entire country was united in sorrow and anger. “From Kargil to Kanyakumari, our pain and anger are the same,” he said, emphasizing national solidarity in the face of terror.
