Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday blamed the ruling BJP for the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. He said the BJP’s “politics of hate” is the reason behind such attacks.
Speaking to the media, Raut said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has failed in his duties and should resign. He called Shah the “most failed home minister in the country’s history.”
The terror attack happened on Tuesday at a popular tourist spot in south Kashmir. Among the dead were two foreigners—from the UAE and Nepal—and two local residents. Some victims’ families said that the attackers asked about people’s religion before shooting.
Raut reacted to this by saying, “If terrorists are killing based on religion, it is because of the hate spread by BJP.” He said this kind of hateful politics will one day backfire.
He also criticized the BJP-led government for focusing more on toppling opposition governments and jailing opposition leaders than on protecting citizens. “They are busy with politics, not the safety of the people,” he added.
Raut said that the BJP may do a “surgical strike” just to gain votes ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections.
He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that even after demonetisation—when Modi said it would stop terrorism—attacks are still happening. “They are not telling the truth in Parliament,” he claimed, adding that the government hides details of such incidents from the public.
