Karnataka Rushed to Aid After Pahalgam Terror Attack Kills 2 From State

After the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sent Labour Minister Santosh Lad to the region to help Kannadigas affected by the incident and ensure their safe return.

A rescue team of officials was also dispatched on Tuesday evening to help people from Karnataka who may still be stranded in Kashmir.

So far, reports confirm that two people from Karnataka were killed in the attack. One of them was Bharath Bhushan, from Bengaluru, who was shot dead while his wife and three-year-old son survived. The other victim was Manjunath Rao, a real estate agent from Shivamogga.

The attack happened on Tuesday afternoon at a popular tourist spot near Pahalgam. Terrorists opened fire, killing 26 people, including tourists from the UAE and Nepal as well as two locals. This is the deadliest attack in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama incident.

CM Siddaramaiah expressed deep sorrow on social media platform ‘X’, saying, “My heart aches when I think of the innocent lives lost in the attack.” He promised that the state government will do everything it can to support and bring back affected Kannadigas safely.
