Trainee Pilot Killed as Training Aircraft Crashes in Gujarat’s Amreli

A trainee pilot died on Tuesday afternoon when a training aircraft crashed in a residential area in Amreli town, Gujarat, and caught fire. The aircraft belonged to a private aviation academy based in Delhi and operated from the Amreli airport.

According to police, the plane took off from Amreli airport and crashed around 12:30 pm near the Giriya Road area. It hit a tree before falling into an open plot in the Shastri Nagar locality. Fortunately, no residents were injured.

The pilot, who was flying solo, died on the spot. The aircraft caught fire soon after the crash and was completely destroyed in the flames.

Amreli Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat said the local police have started a case of accidental death and will investigate the cause of the crash. The reason for the accident is still unknown.

Fire officer S.C. Gadhvi said four fire brigade teams rushed to the site and managed to bring the fire under control. He confirmed that because the plane landed in an open area after hitting a tree, no other people were hurt.

Authorities will now look into what caused the crash.
