There was a heated argument today between Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Mann and Municipal Council Executive Officer Ravi Jindal during the inauguration of two tubewells in Ward No. 6, Kharar. The tubewells were built at a cost of Rs 93.50 lakh.
During the event, local residents questioned the MLA about pending development works in the area. In response, Mann called the MC officer and other officials to the spot to discuss the issues.
She asked Ravi Jindal why unauthorised constructions had not been removed, even though she had given instructions earlier. She also raised the issue of delayed road repair work.
Jindal reportedly told her that legal restrictions were making it difficult to act. However, the MLA strongly replied, saying, “This is public money, not our father’s money. No officer or politician is above the public.” She further asked, “Why are the development works not being done even after Rs 400 crore has been granted for Kharar? Why are you sitting idle on the funds?”
Other officials present at the spot tried to calm the situation and bring the discussion under control.
The incident highlights rising tensions over the slow pace of development in the region.
