A shocking and distressing incident unfolded just days before a scheduled wedding in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Anita Devi, a mother, reportedly fled her home with Rahul, the man who was to marry her daughter on April 16. The duo took with them Rs 3 lakh in cash and jewelry worth over Rs 5 lakh, all of which had been saved for the upcoming wedding. This unexpected elopement has left both families in a state of shock, prompting a police investigation and a search for the runaway couple.
Jitendra Kumar, the father of the bride-to-be, revealed to reporters that his wife, Anita, had been in regular communication with their daughter’s fiancé in the weeks leading up to the wedding. However, he never imagined that it would culminate in such an incident. “She has ruined us,” Kumar said, adding that the family’s financial preparations for the wedding have now been jeopardized.
According to the police, the incident unfolded when Anita Devi, without informing anyone, took the jewelry and cash and left with Rahul. Circle Officer Mahesh Kumar confirmed the case, explaining that a missing person report had been filed after Jitendra Kumar noticed his wife’s absence and attempts to contact both Anita and Rahul yielded no results. “A case has been registered at Madrak police station, and a team has been formed for the search,” Kumar said.
Jitendra Kumar further explained the situation, stating that Anita had been busy preparing for their daughter’s wedding, and they were in regular contact until 10:30 am on the day she disappeared. “She asked me to visit her sister’s house at 10 am. When I returned home at 8:30 pm, I found out that she had been missing since 4:30 am. We searched for her everywhere but found no clues, and then we reported her missing to the police,” Kumar said. He added that both Anita’s and Rahul’s phones were switched off after 10:30 am, further deepening the mystery.
The police are now actively working on tracing the couple, but as of now, their whereabouts remain unknown. The family is left grappling with the emotional and financial impact of the elopement, just days before what was supposed to be the happiest occasion for them.
