Union Cabinet Approves ₹1,878 Crore Zirakpur Bypass Project to Ease Traffic in ਪੰਜਾਬ-Haryana

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the construction of the Zirakpur Bypass, a 19.2-km, six-lane access-controlled road project in ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana, at a cost of ₹1,878.31 crore.

The bypass will begin at the junction with NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) and end at the junction with NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo), aiming to decongest traffic in Zirakpur, Panchkula, and surrounding areas.

Approved under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, the project will help in diverting heavy traffic from Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity, offering direct connectivity to Himachal Pradesh.

According to an official statement, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve traffic flow in the crowded stretches of NH-7, NH-5, and NH-152.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Narendra Modi.
