Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia Promises to Maintain Decency on YouTube Show After Criticism

Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, who faced heavy criticism, including from the Supreme Court, for inappropriate comments on his YouTube show, has filed a promise to the court. He assured that he would keep his shows respectful and avoid discussing ongoing legal cases.

Allahbadia’s lawyer, Senior Advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, informed the court that Allahbadia had agreed to these terms as part of a response to the court’s previous orders. Allahbadia has also cooperated with the police by giving his statement to the Mumbai police, Guwahati police, and the National Commission for Women.

The court had earlier ordered Allahbadia to surrender his passport to the Thane Police, but his lawyer asked the court to allow him to travel abroad for his shows, saying it was affecting his work. The Supreme Court had granted Allahbadia temporary protection from arrest but was concerned that allowing him to travel might disrupt the investigation.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the investigation was expected to be completed in two weeks. The court decided to review Allahbadia’s request after two weeks, on April 21, and said the decision would depend on whether the investigation is complete by then.

This case involves Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who are facing multiple legal cases related to comments made on their show ‘India’s Got Latent.’ The Supreme Court had previously allowed Allahbadia to continue his podcast, “The Ranveer Show,” as long as it was appropriate for all viewers.
