In a major crackdown on illegal immigration businesses, the Jalandhar administration has cancelled the licenses of 50 unauthorised travel firms in the district. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that these firms failed to renew their licenses despite receiving show-cause notices. As they did not respond, the administration took action by cancelling their licenses.
Earlier in February, the district administration had issued notices to 271 travel agents in Jalandhar. The move is part of an intensified effort to combat illegal immigration, especially after the return of deported individuals from the US who had been sent abroad through illegal channels like the “dunki” routes.
Dr. Aggarwal reassured the public of the administration’s commitment to protecting people from fraudulent immigration services. He urged citizens to consult only registered immigration firms that have valid licenses, with the list of authorized firms available on the official websites of Jalandhar and the Emigrate portal. For further assistance, individuals can contact the Protector General of Emigrants helpline or email the designated address.
The DC also mentioned that the administration continues to monitor immigration firms and will take strict action against those operating without proper licenses. Several other licenses are currently under review, and additional cancellations may follow if violations are found. This crackdown aims to protect residents from fraudulent practices and ensure transparency in the immigration process.
