On Monday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann urged for peace and unity among all communities in Punjab, emphasizing that there is no place for hatred in the state. Reflecting on the past suffering caused by the flawed policies of traditional political parties, Mann called for a focus on peace, love, and development.
Speaking during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, Mann recalled the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh for eternal peace upon Malerkotla, in response to Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan’s support for the younger Sahibzadas. He assured the public that the state would not allow hatred to thrive.
In a significant gesture, Mann appreciated the large gathering of Muslims in Malerkotla who prayed for the eradication of the drug menace from the state. He also addressed the issue of transport services, announcing that unemployed youth would be given permits for mini-buses. He revealed that a budget of Rs 150 to 200 crore had been allocated for various development projects in Malerkotla, including a government medical college, a government college for girls, a new administrative building, and new link roads.
Mann shared that the land acquisition process for the government medical college was nearly complete. The college will have 100 MBBS seats and be developed in a 60:40 partnership. Additionally, Malerkotla’s Civil Hospital will be upgraded to accommodate 200 beds.
The CM was joined by Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Malerkotla MLA Mohammad Jamil Ur Rahman, and Amargarh MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra at the event.
