Environmentalist and AAP Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal defended his water conservation model on Friday, claiming it has been a success, unlike other alternate plans that failed to achieve the desired results. His remarks came in response to Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa’s recent statement, where he called Seechewal’s model a “complete failure” and accused the government of promoting it to benefit its leader.
The controversy escalated after the Punjab State Assembly adopted a censure motion against Bajwa for his comments on Thursday. Breaking his silence, Seechewal asserted that his water conservation model had not failed anywhere, and instead, he blamed the “Thapar model,” developed by engineers, for not delivering the desired outcomes.
Seechewal highlighted that since 1999, the model implemented in his native village of Seechewal has been successfully running and continues to do so to this day. He further claimed that the model has been successfully adopted in nearly 250 villages across Punjab, and he fully guarantees its success.
