
Ghaziabad, March 12, 2025 — A couple residing in a rented apartment in Ghaziabad allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday, the police reported.
The deceased, cousins from the same village in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly married against the wishes of their families. According to police, they were afraid that their families would not accept their marriage, which they believed led to the tragic decision.
The police received information about the incident around 4 pm on Tuesday from Mahindra Enclave in Shastri Nagar. Officers had to break open the door of the apartment to recover the bodies. A three-page suicide note was found at the scene, in which the couple stated that they had married on their own accord and had been living in Ghaziabad since then.
The couple was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kavinagar, Swatantra Kumar Singh, the couple had been living in the apartment since February 18. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the police are currently investigating the suicide note. Legal procedures are underway.
