The much-awaited film Kesari Chapter 2 – The Untold Chapter of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday, is set to release on April 18, 2025, the makers announced on Saturday. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film is a spiritual follow-up to the 2019 film Kesari, and will also feature actor R. Madhavan.
While the first Kesari, set in 1897, focused on the Battle of Saragarhi, the new film will bring to light the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which occurred on April 13, 1919, in Amritsar, Punjab. In this dark chapter of history, British Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered his soldiers to open fire on a peaceful crowd of over 15,000 Indians who had gathered to protest the Rowlatt Act. The massacre, one of the most horrific events in India’s history, became a turning point in the Indian freedom struggle, igniting widespread revolutionary sentiment against British colonial rule.
Kesari Chapter 2 is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
