Five people died and three were injured in two separate road accidents near Abohar.
The first accident happened around 10 PM on Sunday near Kheruwala village on the Abohar-Sadulshahar-Hanumangarh highway. A car hit a tree after the driver lost control. Four young men, including the driver, died on the spot. They were:
-Wazir Singh (20, driver)
Balwinder Singh (18)
Sukhwinder Singh (21) from Takht Hazara
Kulwinder Singh (23) from Gadarkhera village
Two others, Surinder Kumar (20) and Gagandeep Singh (20) from Sohnewala, were injured and taken to the Civil Hospital in Sriganganagar. One of them is in critical condition.
The group was returning from Hanumangarh after attending an engagement party. Three of the deceased had private jobs, and two were students. Police handed over the bodies to the families after postmortem. The car was completely damaged. A video of Wazir driving just before the crash has surfaced, and a case of negligent driving was registered against him.
In another accident, Rajinder Kumar died on the spot, and Bhinder Singh was injured when their bike collided with a car coming from the opposite direction on the Abohar-Hindumalkot road last night. Rajinder had taken a lift on the bike.
