4 Ludhiana Police Officials Dismissed for Negligence and Drug Use

In a strict move to maintain discipline in the force, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma on Monday dismissed four police personnel from duty.

Three of the officials were removed for being repeatedly absent from work and showing careless behavior. One of them was even declared a proclaimed offender by the court for not repaying a bank loan and had been missing from duty since June 16, 2024. Another, a female employee, had been absent since June 6, 2024. The third, a recruit constable, had skipped work for a total of 467 days in two separate periods. None of them could provide a valid reason for their long absences.

The fourth dismissed officer, a trainee constable, failed a drug test while undergoing training at the Police Recruits Training Centre in Hoshiarpur. Commissioner Sharma said he received a report from the training centre stating the trainee tested positive for drugs. He was immediately removed from service.

Commissioner Sharma stressed that such irresponsible behavior affects the discipline and morale of the entire police force. “If a policeman is using drugs, they can’t be trusted to serve the public responsibly. I will not tolerate such conduct,” he said. He added that this action should serve as a warning to others and encourage all staff to work with dedication and honesty.
