The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced that 32 airports, which were closed due to rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border, will be reopened soon. This decision follows a directive from the Indian Air Force (IAF), according to a report by CNBC-TV18.
The airports, located in northern and western parts of the country—including Srinagar, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Kangra—were shut for civilian flights on May 9 and were expected to remain closed until May 15.
Meanwhile, the Delhi airport, India’s busiest, has said that operations are currently running smoothly. However, there may be some impact on flight schedules and waiting times at security checkpoints. Around 100 flights to and from Delhi were cancelled on Sunday.
The move to reopen the airports comes after India and Pakistan agreed on Saturday to immediately halt all military actions on land, sea, and air—a major step to reduce tensions.
